I had some free time today after work and wanted to stop in somewhere that I hadn’t been in a little while. Spyhouse Coffee Shop has 2 locations in South Minneapolis that both have their special little niche in town. I normally find myself driving to their Hennepin Ave location but I wanted to enjoy a change of scenery today. They did a great job with the two shops to make them unique in their own way and I feel like they both have their own positive differences. Christian from Spyhouse took the time to share with me some of the shops new changes and updated me on some of their products. This included both shops being upgraded to beautiful new La Marzocco Espresso machines and solidifying an all star line up of coffee roasters.
The macchiato was prepared nicely and I actually had the choice between 3 different types of espresso that they were serving. I normally turn into a kid in a candy shop when I have some options to be prepared with my drink. I chose their “Spring Break” espresso by Ritual Roasters, who are based out of San Francisco, CA. The taste was delicious and was described to have a nice dark chocolate taste with hints of tropical fruit using a mixture of Brasil and Kenyan coffees. Overall, this stop today was a solid end to this first real week of summer in Minneapolis.
